Skiathos Beaches

Boasting over 60 sandy beaches and some of the finest coastal scenery in the world Skiathos is a holiday paradise.
The beaches afford a gently sloping access to the water and are ideal for children. More experienced swimmers can go further out and enjoy Scuba and other water sports.
The south coast of the island is calm and within easy reach of town with its excellent bus service. Proudly acknowledged as one of the best beaches in the world Koukounaries is the last stop on the line and is a great place to be. West of Koukounaries is the naturist’s high spot, Banana beach. The main naturist area is on Little Banana, which lies around the rocks at the western end of Big Banana.
It is also worth noting that the west coast beaches will inevitably enjoy the sun until it sets- something not possible on other parts of the island.
Most beaches have tavernas which serve up the usual hot and cold drinks and food. Try a local favourite Coffee Frappe a great way to start the day.
Among the many popular sunspots are Kanapitsa, Kolios, Vromolimnos, Ag. Paraskevi, beaches all well worth a visit. Among so many you will be sure to find your own favourite.
The northern beaches are wilder and very beautiful. They are less easy to access due to the island’s hilly interior and the dirt roads. This makes it ideal for walking or jeep hire.
The most popular among north coast beaches is Lalaria with its stunning scenery. Look out for a natural bridge between beach and sea that forms a subterranean passage. This beach is approachable only from the sea due to its rocky outcrop.
Kastro is another pleasant beach and is situated on the northern tip of the island below the site of the medieval capital of Skiathos. There is a fantastic view from the top of the cliff which rises on the western side of the beach. The beach is mainly accessible by boat or by 4x4 vehicle (although you will have to walk the last hundred metre as the track becomes too narrow).
Boats to most beaches leave from the Old Harbour in Skiathos Town.
